Workbench Rehab

I recently had posted some pictures on my shop’s Facebook page about another workbench I’m building. (Yes I know this will be two within the last 6 months) I posted pictures of the bench with a Soft Maple (Acer rubrum, or Acer saccharinum) slab about 7′ long and 4″ thik all trimmed out with old growth oak with a shoulder vise and tool tray.

To put it frankly this benchtop did not play nice. The dovetails didn’t work out, the tool tray could have been better, the vice had some issues… On and on. I set this bench aside for a while, it was just staring at me all the while until last week.

I still plan on building a Moravian workbench but with different material and a different approach.
